Hugh Jackman, Charlie Davies And Beau Biden Make Appearances At PPL Park

Wednesday was a big day for celebrity loving Philadelphia Union fans.

Stuart Holden, an American intentional and Bolton Wanderers midfielder, came to the game and endeared himself to the Sons of Ben by joining them in supporting the Union from the River End for five minutes. Soon after Holden’s visit to the River End was one by Hugh Jackman. The ‘Wolverine’ actor made his way over to the Sons of Ben and was soon picked up by Comcast SportsNet for their broadcast of the game.

After the game, Jackman and the members of his game viewing group made their way out to the field to play a little bit of soccer. Jackman, who is friends with the Union's Chairman and Founding Owner Jay Sugarman, showed off a little bit of skill while in the outfield but was unimpressive in goal. [Editor's note: We kid, Hugh, we kid]

Charlie Davies was also at the game, spotted by the small contingent of fans who remained at PPL Park before security closed the grounds to them. The DC United striker was waiting by the locker rooms, most likely wanting to catch back up with Holden.

Rounding out the night of celebrities was Beau Biden, son of Vice President Joe Biden, who is serving his second term as Delaware Attorney General. The oldest of the elder Biden's children, Beau walked into the group of Union fans who were leaving at the behest of security and almost went unnoticed. Marshall Spevak, a friend of the Brotherly Game, spotted Biden as he was passing the Iraqi War veteran on his way out of the stadium.
