Is Former Philadelphia Union Defender Michael Orozco Fiscal On Trial With Pachuca?

Published

on

A somewhat innocent tweet from USMNT striker Herculez Gomez about hanging out with some fellow American soccer players may hold the key to what Michael Orozco Fiscal is currently doing.

The former Philadelphia Union central defender’s job status has been up in the air since the Union could not extend his one year loan with the team, or purchase his rights from San Luis, a Mexican Primera Division club. Upon his return to San Luis, Orozco Fiscal did not make any appearances with the team and was never properly registered to play in any professional matches.

Months of no news out of Mexico about Orozco Fiscal's fate came to a surprising end with a report about Tigres offering a trial to the former American international. But then almost as quickly as the trial came, it ended, with Tigres' Vice-President telling the press that Orozco Fiscal's trial could not happen due to a lack of time.

Again, no news for another three plus weeks, until Gomez tweeted about Americans south of the border. Every player on his list of friends – Jose Torres, DaMarcus Beasley, Orozco Fiscal and Jemal Johnson – either is already playing for Pachuca in Mexico or currently on trial with the team, except for Orozco Fiscal. San Luis and Pachuca are over five hours apart in Mexico, pointing to Orozco Fiscal having joined Pachuca either on loan or full time.
