Noone, Harrisburg Come From Behind to Beat Reading 2-1, Advance in US Open Cup

The Harrisburg City Islanders came from behind to earn a 2-1 win over Reading United AC on Tuesday night in the First Round of the U.S. Open Cup. Former Philadelphia Union midfielder J.T. Noone scored an 86th minute equalizer for Harrisburg before Sainey Touray netted the winner in stoppage time.

Reading had taken the lead in the 35th minute from David Rodriguez, who has taken part in recent Union Reserve Team games. They went down a man in the 57th minute when Stephen Okai was shown a red card, and Reading were unable to hold onto their lead in the matchup of Philadelphia Union affiliates.

Also Tuesday, local amateur club Phoenix SC of Feasterville, PA fell 2-1 to the Rochester Rhinos. Phoenix were making their debut in the professional era of the US Open Cup while Rochester, a USL PRO team, notably won the Open Cup in 1999, beating several MLS teams along the way. Harrisburg will now face Rochester in the Second Round at the City Islanders' home stadium, Skyline Sports Complex. Each team plays in the USL PRO, the third division of American soccer.

In other action, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds earned a 3-2 win over Chattanooga FC to move on to the Second Round as well, where they will take on the Richmond Kickers.
