Former Philadelphia Union Forward Chris Agorsor On Trial With Real Salt Lake

Released only two weeks ago by the Philadelphia Union, forward Chris Agorsor is on trial with Real Salt Lake. The former University of Virginia player was spotted with two other trialists at today’s Salt Lake practice, as reported by Michael C. Lewis of The Salt Lake Tribune on Twitter.

The 21-year-old Agorsor joins Haitian midfielder Sony Norde and Bulgarian full back Samir Bengelloun. Agorsor will attempt to work his way onto a team that is desperate for attack help, missing Alvaro Saborio because of his Gold Cup play with Costa Rica, Paulo Junior on the mend and the healthy players lacking much needed fire power.

Agorsor went to the Union, after signing with MLS, through a weighted lottery. The Union beat out two other teams for the former Manchester United trialist's rights and put him to work through the Reserve League.

Union assistant coach John Hackworth basically told reporters at a press conference that the team let Agorsor go because they did not have a way to properly develop Agorsor because of a lack of available playing time.
