Published

on

Carlos Ruiz is officially leaving the Philadelphia Union, according to the team, but his destination will not be Veracruz.

Daniel Guzman, head coach of the Tiburones Rojos (Red Sharks), once again addressed rumors that have linked Ruiz to Veracruz, denying them outright. Back on July 19, the Brotherly Game editor Joey Samuel reported, via a Veracruz news outlet, that Guzman had finally talked about the possible transfer – he denied it completely.

This time around Guzman made it clear that Veracruz could not afford Ruiz financially, per La Doce.

"[Ruiz is] ruled out, because I repeat, I think [he] is [too] expensive," said Guzman, "… [and] we are focusing… South America."

Another Mexican media outlet, Boca Del Rio, said that hopes for a transfer in of Ruiz were "completely discarded" by the Red Sharks. Confirming Boca Del Rio's article was one from Frente@Frente, which also cited the same difficultiesfor Veracruz in bringing in the Guatemalan striker.
