The throwback combo of Le Toux and Mwanga was working well early. The two strikers found each other with regularity but the Union could not find a final pass.
The Philadelphia Union player’s reactions to the announcement that Carlos Ruiz are telling. Was anyone else at that game last night? Did anyone else hear/say last night that Ruiz should have been in that game? Just when you think the Union are doing well, they switch things up and put in a performance like last night. Just to make this clear, this won’t be a Ruiz article, I’ll leave the professionals to speculate over him.
The Philadelphia Independence can lock up at least a berth in the WPS Semi Final match with a win on Sunday against the Atlanta Beat. With the news coming out this week that whichever playoff game that Philadelphia hosts would be played at PPL Park, there is added incentive for the Independence. A first placed finish is not out of the question, with Philly still three points clear of Western New York, but WNY still has two games in hand.
