Carlos Ruiz On His Way To Veracruz, According To Fox Soccer’s Mauricio Cardenas

Fox Soccer correspondent Mauricio Cardenas is reporting, via Twitter, that Carlos Ruiz is on his way to Mexican second division side Veracruz. Cardenas' tweet refutes what the Tiburones Rojos head coach Daniel Guzman has stated twice in public about rumors that Ruiz is on his way to Veracruz.

Ruiz was known to be on his way out of the Philadelphia Union as of Friday night, when Union head coach Piotr Nowak released information concerning his transfer to reporters at the team’s post-game press conference. Nowak, who was visibly uncomfortable with the situation, stated that the Union had accepted a bid for Ruiz, but did not name the team that was in the process of buying the Guatemalan striker.

Veracruz has been linked to Ruiz multiple times over the past month, with some stories going so far as to discuss intricate parts of the possible transfer. An article from a local news outlet said that, on July 9, the Tiburones Rojos paid Ruiz's buyout clause, enabling them to discuss personal terms with the 31-year-old.

Mexico has previously been a home of Ruiz, who played for Puebla from 2009-2010.
