2012 MLS Draft: Philadelphia Union Select Greg Jordan With The 32nd Overall Pick

The Philadelphia Union select Greg Jordan with the 32nd overall pick in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft.

Jordan is a defensive type of midfielder, making him the fourth player on the Union that can play in a central defensive midfield role (Brian Carroll, Gabriel Gomez and Amobi Okugo, as well). He is a good passer of the ball and works hard throughout the midfield, a lot like Carroll.

In four years at Creighton, Jordan built up a reputation as the leader of one of the NCAA's better defensive teams, helping the Bluejays to 19 shutouts in the 2011 season. Despite his defensive role, Jordan managed to score three goals in 2011, including a game winner in overtime against Wisconsin.

Previously the Union drafted Chandler Hoffman (13th overall). The Union still have one more pick left in the SuperDraft, the 35th overall selection. Philadelphia acquired the pick from Sporting Kansas City in the 2010 Shavar Thomas trade that netted the Union two second round SuperDraft picks.
