The signing of the Scot came with the announcement of his jersey number, a Union staple.

Stuart Findlay will come to Philadephia this Spring and bring with him a Union tradition. Findlay will wear the number four, a number worn by Union defenders since the team’s inception in 2010.

Findlay has not worn the number in the past. His numbers have included 5, 6, 14, 15, 17, 18, 35, and 37, and wore 17 during his most recent four-year tenure at Kilmarnock FC.

The number was most recently worn on the Union by Mark McKenzie, who was transferred to KRC Genk in Belgium in January. Prior to McKenzie, it was worn by the Union’s first captain, Danny Califf (2010-2012), Baraky Soumare (2012-2013), Austin Berry (2014-2015), and Ken Tribbett (2016-2017).

Findlay’s arrival brings with it high expectation by fans as he looks to continue the tradition of strong number fours helping to anchor the backline.
