Game Updates

90+5′- Union with a free kick from the top of the box. Elliott fakes that he will take it, but McGlynn takes it and wraps it around the wall, but McCarthy sees it the whole way. After that, we have the final whistle blown.

90+1′- Poor clearance by the Union, and Acosta converts a shot he hits into the ground, which goes over Blake for the tieing goal.

86′- Gazdag lines up for the PK. McCarthy guesses wrong as he dives to the right to cover a low shot, but Gazdag sends it to the lower left. The man is now 14/14 from the spot.

82′- McGlynn’s shot is deflected, and they signal for a corner. But it looks like a handball and we have chants for VAR. Ramos sprints to the monitor. After looking at the replay, he comes out and points to the spot. Acosta is shown a yellow for his handball.

78′- Martinez us down on the pitch and has his shirt over his head. He went down without any contact, which is never good. We also have subs happening here. LAFC makes one. Union makes a pair with Sullivan and Flach coming on for Uhre and Martinez. Martinez is up and walking off in pain on the other side of the field.

77′- LAFC earns just their second corner of the night, which will be from the near flag. The service is driven towards the top of the 6-yard box at the far post. The Union can quickly clear it out and down to the other end of the field.

74′- LAFC’s Biuk makes a terrible challenge and gives the Union a superb freekick from the right side of the penalty area. Wagner sends it to the back post and Philly area’s own, and former Union player, McCarthy punches it out of danger.

71′- Freekick for the Union. Wagner drives it towards the near post, where it looks like Glesnes mistimes the jump as his header goes straight up in the air.

69′- LAFC makes a sub here as Biuk replaces Vela.

68′- Another save by Blake, and it is way easier as he stands there and saves the ball.

67′- SAVE BY BLAKE. The man is a superhero. LAFC’s Bouanga is unmarked and gets the ball inside the 6-yard box; a diving Blake gets a hand on it. He then reacts to a second ‘backheel’ shot that he saves.

64′- Free kick for the Union from the right side wing. Wagner delivers it towards deep center of the 6-yard box, where there is a streaking Glesnes, but McCarthy is able to catch the ball.

62′-  Yellow was shown to Martinez.

61′- Back-to-Back corners for the Union. The first one was played towards the near post and went out. The second one went towards the back post, LAFC defended it, and they went on a breakaway, where Vela ran into Mbaizo.

58′- Carranza gets on the end of a long ball and dribbles into the box and shots, which McCarthy saves. Gazdag picks up the rebound and puts it into the back of the net. However, he is ruled offside, and VAR confirmed the ruling.

50′- Wagner is down after making a hard landing from a 50/50 aerial challenge.

46′- We resumed play, and LAFC made a change during the break. As they brought on Bogusz for Opoku.

HALF

45+2′- Ball is played long, Uhre brings it down and Carranza is behind him who picks the ball up and dribbles into the box for a shot, it is blocked by McCarthy.

45’+1- No cards are issued, and we play on. There will be at least two minutes before halftime.

43′- The game is halted after Glesnes and Vela slide for a ball. Glesnes legs go into Vela. Afterward, Martinez and Mbaizo start some shoving with LAFC.

42′- LAFC has a set piece from the top left side of the box. The service is sent directly to a Union player’s head. The second chance ball ends the same way.

40′- Uhre gets a great break and run. He mistimes one touch that takes him wide and gives McCarthy time to adjust and close down the 1v1 opportunity.

34′- First corner of the night for the Union. Wagner’s service from the near flag does not find a Union player, leading to LAFC pushing it the other way.

25′- First shot of the night and it comes from LAFC’s Bouanga whose shot goes wide of the net.

11′- The long ball almost found Uhre, but it was a few feet ahead of him, and LAFC’s McCarthy could get to the ball first.

8′- Glesnes with a lovely nutmeg. Then the Union gets a play into the box, where Carranza slams a shot off the post. He is eventually ruled offside.

5′- LAFC earns the game’s first corner. The service from the near flag is sent into the box, and Glesnes cleanly gets his head on it to clear it out.

1′- We are underway with the Union in the dark blues. They are attacking from right to left, defending the river end in the first half.
