West Chester United is one win away from adding a significant piece of hardware to their trophy case.

The Predators beat Athletico Olanchoa 2-0 in the Hank Steinbrecher Cup on Saturday in Tucson, Arizona to advance to the final. They play USL League Two side Ventura County Fusion in the final on Sunday at 4 p.m. eastern time.

Ventura County beat UPSL champions FC Olympians 5-0 in the second semifinal on Saturday behind a hat trick from Logan Farrington.

Union Academy grad/Union II alum Jack Jasinski opened the scoring for West Chester on Saturday with a goal from the penalty spot and Dom Bachstein added a second in the 2-0 win.

Though the Predators field a team in USL League Two, their entry into the annual Steinbrecher Cup came by winning the Werner Fricker Cup in Murfreesboro, Tennessee last August. It was their second time winning the Werner Fricker Cup. They first won it in 2016 and later lost in the Steinbrecher semifinal to that year’s champions, Chicago Fire U23.

The Steinbrecher Cup dates back to 2013 as a “champion of champions” competition of amateur teams. Its named in honor of Hank Steinbrecher, a National Soccer Hall of Fame member and recipient of the esteemed Werner Fricker Builder Award.
