Game Thread: Philadelphia Union 1 vs Inter Miami CF 4; Final

Game Updates

Final Whistle

90+3′- Martinez is getting surrounded by pink shirts after he throws one of the players down. Play is also stopped because someone is not on either team is on the field.

90+1′- There will be at least 3 minutes of stoppage time here.

87′- Mami makes a change. The Union bring on Torres for Gazdag.

84′- Goal Miami.

78′- The formation change brought a ton of bodies packing the box, another union chance here ends with the ball going wide of the net. However the flag comes up for offsides.

76′- Play is stopped as el brujo goes down holding his hamstring. Training staff is now out to look at him.

74′- Change here for Miami.

72′- Corner for the Union here. Wagner from the near side. It is played towards the near post and with just a few minutes on his return the captain buries the second chance ball to put the U on the board!

69′- Blake makes a great save and then Elliott blocks a shot from Messi, but it was all for fun as the flag comes up for offsides. Meanwhile the Union make a double switch here bringing on Sullivan and captain Bedoya, his first action in this tournament. The two replace Donovan and Bueno.

67′- Wagner with another great ball in, it falls off the back of Uhre and an outstretch Glesnes can’t get his ball to find the underside of the crossbar.

64′- Play is stopped because Gomez is down, after he gets elbowed by Bueno.

62′- Yedlin is shown a yellow for time wasting.

60′- Miami makes a double switch here bringing on Campana and Gomez for Martinez and Taylor.

59′- Another corner for the Union, this one is from the near flag. Wagner stands over it, his service is sent towards the back post. The goalkeeper drops it but no one can get on it. After the second chance ball is sent back into the penalty area, Donovan gets a head on it and points it down towards the lower left of the net. However, it is saved.

57′- Corner for the union. His service from the far flag is near the penalty spot, but the play is called dead for a handball off of Harriel.

55′- A great opportunity for Donovan and beats the goalkeeper but his shot is wide. However, it wouldn’t have mattered as the flag comes up. But this is the Union we are use to seeing.

49′- The Union’s Martinez takes a shot from outside the box and it goes into the River End.

47′- Harriel with a throw-in from the near side. The long throw is flicked out of danger.

46′- The game gets back underway. The Union have made two changes pulling Flach and Lowe. They are replaced with McGlynn and Uhre.

HALF

45+3′- A third goal from Miami.

45+1′- We will have at least 4 minutes of stoppage time here in the first half.

39′- Union corner from the near flag. Wagner stands over it, his service is sent out by Yedlin.

36′- Miami player is down and his boot is off as the training staff is on to look at him.

33′- Another corner here for the U, after Bueno heads it into a Miami player. The service from the far post goes past the net after a punch out from Miami and earns a third corner. This one goes out for a goal kick.

32′- Corner is played towards the near post and handled by Miami’s Yedlin.

31′- Miami commits their first foul of the night setting up a free kick from about 30 yards out and on the far side. His service is driven into the line of people and it eventually went out for a corner.

29′- Gazdag with a rocket that was right on frame but saved by Miami’s goalkeeper.

25′- Bueno leans into a Miami player with his shoulder sending him down to the ground. He is shown a yellow for the hard tackle.

20′- Messi gets a goal. He got a gap between defenders and a clear path to the goal. His low shot gets passed Blake. Meanwhile Martinez got taken to the ground after a hard tackle before his pass to Messi. So after the goal Lowe is shown a yellow card for the hard tackle.

15′- Elliott misses the chance to get a head on to block the long pass, but he catches up and closes down on Martinez. The close down helped to stop a threat from Miami.

8′- Great ball sent into the penalty area and Gazdag just cant get any lift from the ball to go over the keeper. Union are still down by 1.

3′- Goal for Miami. Martinez gets a clear run and gets a shot off that goes past a diving Blake.

1′- The game is now underway in Chester. The boys in blue are wearing the dark ones and are protecting the River End.
