Philadelphia Union II will be facing New England Revolution II for a fourth time this season when they open the MLS Next Pro playoffs against their division rivals on Oct. 1 at Gillette Stadium.

Revs II have had Union II’s number this season with three wins out of three. In a choose-your-opponent playoff format, the Revolution chose the Union to be their first round opponent.

The decision made sense but also how much does Revs II want to push fate here? Beating a team three times is hard enough; beating them a fourth time?

Union II posted a 7-6-1 record against playoff teams this season with two wins over reigning league champions Columbus Crew 2 and three wins over Red Bulls II, including a win Sunday that sealed their entry into the postseason for a second straight season. Revs II are the only playoff team that posted more than one win against Union II in the regular season.

Sunday’s match will kick off at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast live on MLS Season Pass.
