Julian Carranza combined with Quinn Sullivan to score a goal before halftime but the Philadelphia Union settled for a 1-1 draw in their second preseason match of 2024 Tuesday at Al Lang Stadium.

It was the Union’s second straight match at the home of the Tampa Bay Rowdies but this one was closed to the public and the match was not streamed.

Head coach Jim Curtin rolled out a starting XI of Andre Blake, Kai Wagner, Damion Lowe, Jakob Glesnes, Nathan Harriel, Jose Martinez, Jack McGlynn, Quinn Sullivan, Jeremy Rafanello, Julian Carranza and Joaquin Torres.

MLS SuperDraft pick Francesco Montali (No. 82 from Boston University) replaced Blake before halftime for his first minutes in preseason.

The second half lineup: Francesco Montali, Matthew Real, Olwethu Makhanya, Neil Pierre, Olivier Mbaizo; Jesus Bueno, Sanders Ngabo, CJ Olney, David Vazquez; Chris Donovan, Jeremy Rafanello.

Holden Trent subbed in for Montali and Nick Pariano replaced Rafanello in the second half.

Daniel Pereira tied the match up for Austin.

The Union will be at Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex on Saturday to play NYCFC at 11 a.m.
