Feb. 16

Per Chilean outlet Encancha, Joaquin Torres has signed a deal that will see him leave Philadelphia and head to Universidad Católica. Torres, who came to Philadelphia from Montreal, appeared in 13 games for the Union and notched one goal and one assist.


Jan. 31

Per a Turkish journalist, Daniel Gazdag has drawn the interest of Trabzonspor, a club currently sitting in third place in the Turkish Süper Lig. This isn’t the first time Gazdag’s name has come up in this transfer window, he was also linked to Sheffield Wednesday for a loan.

Per Manuel Veth, the Union have brought in another goalkeeper, this time in Oliver Semmle from Louisville City FC. According to Veth, the Union have paid the Colorado Rapids for his MLS rights. This isn’t the first goalkeeper the Union have claimed the rights to this offseason — they drafted Francesco Montali in the latest MLS SuperDraft.

The Union signed another attacking player, American-born 20-year-old Markus Anderson from the Spanish third division.

Jan. 24

Per Jonathan Tannenwald of the Inquirer, the Union and captain Alejandro Bedoya are close to working out a new contract. Bedoya’s future with the club was previously in the air after The Athletic reported Bedoya was told he was not in the club’s future plans. Per The Athletic’s Tom Bogert, a deal with Bedoya has been in the works for some time, though a timeline was never clear.

Jamir Berdecio is official. He’s on loan for the season with a purchase option.

Per The Star, midfielder Daniel Gazdag is on Sheffield Wednesday’s radar for a loan. The Star wrote that “Gazdag’s name was put forward,” hinting either the Union or Gazdag’s agent reached out to the club. Additionally, the EFL Championship club “are believed to have been informed about his availability in the current transfer window if an agreement can be struck with the Union. They’re unlikely to be the only club who have been contacted, either, should the Hungarian be looking for the next chapter in his career.”

Per José Roberto Nuñez, Brendan Craig is on trial with Everton. The Union academy member was previously photographed at an Everton match and hadn’t reported to Union training.

The Philadelphia Union finalized its deal to send Andres Perea to NYCFC for 800k in GAM, the club announced Monday.

On Wednesday, Bolivian journalist Diego Guthrie reported the Union’s signing of Jamir Berdecio on loan is finished. Berdecio is a 21-year-old defender who plays in the top flight of Bolivian soccer and hasn’t scored across more than 1,900 minutes for his club but has notched six yellow cards. Transfermarkt lists his price at around $300,000.

Kai Wagner to Rangers

With Kai Wagner’s Union contract in the air, the left back has reported interest from European suitors. Most notable, at the moment, is Rangers of the Scottish Premiership. Union head coach Jim Curtin recently said the deadline for Wagner to decide on his situation in Philadelphia is fast approaching. Wagner will have to decide if he wants to stay in Philadelphia or pursue a move back to Europe, which has has long said is his aspiration. The Union have a direct connection to the Scottish club via Tommy Wilson, Director of Academy and Professional Development. Wilson worked at Rangers before coming to the Union.
