Per Jonathan Tannenwald of the Inquirer, the Union and captain Alejandro Bedoya are close to working out a new contract. Bedoya’s future with the club was previously in the air after The Athletic reported Bedoya was told he was not in the club’s future plans. Per The Athletic’s Tom Bogert, a deal with Bedoya has been in the works for some time, though a timeline was never clear.
New from me:
Union manager Jim Curtin tells me he believes Alejandro Bedoya will be back soon.
It's not done yet – at all – but Curtin is convinced, and isn't afraid to say it out loud.
But how much will he play his longtime captain this year?https://t.co/QQ7tc7WMMM pic.twitter.com/cLWYNgMlLf

Per The Star, midfielder Daniel Gazdag is on Sheffield Wednesday’s radar for a loan. The Star wrote that “Gazdag’s name was put forward,” hinting either the Union or Gazdag’s agent reached out to the club. Additionally, the EFL Championship club “are believed to have been informed about his availability in the current transfer window if an agreement can be struck with the Union. They’re unlikely to be the only club who have been contacted, either, should the Hungarian be looking for the next chapter in his career.”
Understand that Hungarian attacker, Daniel Gazdag, is a name that has been put forward to #SWFC as they consider options for the January window…
Led to believe he could be available on loan – he scored 15 goals from midfield last season. https://t.co/iSw1p2BOrJ 🦉⚽️

Two different and somewhat opposing reports came out on Thursday during MLS Media Day regarding Union forward Julian Carranza.
Philadelphia Union’s Julian Carranza just confirmed to me he received interest from European clubs back in August & December but declined, added “I hope to make a big career move in July”

This is not particularly surprising. But he told me something different a few hours after he talked with Lizzy – that he believes he has to move this winter, because the value of a sale will go down if he moves in the summer.
My story will be published soon. https://t.co/iFlDSd9rz4

With Kai Wagner’s Union contract in the air, the left back has reported interest from European suitors. Most notable, at the moment, is Rangers of the Scottish Premiership. Union head coach Jim Curtin recently said the deadline for Wagner to decide on his situation in Philadelphia is fast approaching. Wagner will have to decide if he wants to stay in Philadelphia or pursue a move back to Europe, which has has long said is his aspiration. The Union have a direct connection to the Scottish club via Tommy Wilson, Director of Academy and Professional Development. Wilson worked at Rangers before coming to the Union.
