Reading Rage rebrands as Reading Rage Surf with new national partnership
Reading Rage is trading their traditional red for blue with the announcement that the Berks County club is joining the Surf Nation network of clubs.
Reading Rage SC is now Reading Rage Surf and brings the number of clubs affiliated with the nationwide youth soccer network to 56.
“It’s been refreshing dealing with the Reading Rage leadership team,” Andy Prosser, Surf Nation Director, said in a news release. “It is clear to see the investment in the community to provide a player-focused, high-level soccer experience. Our mission and values aligned from day one, and we are excited to expand into Berks County, helping the organization achieve its goals. The Club has a deep history in the community of striving for excellence, and we are excited to welcome the players, families, and coaches into the Surf Nation Family.”
Reading Rage is Surf Nation’s first club partnership in Pennsylvania. There is also an existing New Jersey Surf club and a new partnership that was recently announced with New Jersey club Match Fit Academy.
“We are excited and honored to become an affiliate club member of Surf Nation,” Sean Murphy, Executive Director of Reading Rage Surf, said in a news release. The Surf Player Select Program, Coaching Manual, and resources through their national club network will bring tremendous opportunities for all our players, teams, and club.”
The club produced its first US Youth Soccer regional champion in 2023 with the 2009 girls team being crowned U14 champions at the Eastern Regional Championships in Loudoun County.
Though they are keeping the name the move marks a significant shift in the Reading Rage branding and appearance.
The Reading Rage name is a link to lower level professional soccer’s past in the U.S. The Rage played in the USISL and USL Pro leagues from 1996-2003 and joined what is now USL League Two before rebranding as Reading United AC ahead of the 2010 season.
Reading Rage Surf will be part of the new ECNL Girls Regional League – Northeast that is launching for the 2024-2025 season. They will be joined by Hex Keystone FC and Yardley Makefield Soccer in the new regional league. For more information and tryout information, visit readingragesurf.com.
