Former FC Delco standout Chad Poarch scored the million dollar goal to secure the La Bombonera’s win in the second ever TST Soccer Tournament in North Carolina on Monday night.

Poarch, who played college soccer at High Point and the University of Delaware and also played locally for West Chester United, scored the decisive goal to beat Nani FC. La Bombonera is a team formed out of an indoor facility with the same name in New Castle, Delaware and features a number of Mexican players with experience at the professional indoor soccer level.

La Bombonera and Monday’s final opponent Nani FC, named after former Manchester United star Luis Nani, both entered the final with 7-0 records. Poarch, a Middletown, Del. native, made some noise when in an interview he said he wanted to play and beat Nani and then backed it up with his goal to seal the victory.

The Delaware team joins Newtown Pride FC as winners of the 7v7 competition. The US Women won the women’s competition, which was added for this year.

Dozens of players with local ties participated in the competition – including former Union players Amobi Okugo, David Accam, CJ Sapong and Jimmy McLaughlin – but it was the side from the First State that came up victorious in the end to earn the prize money.
