Philadelphia Union midfielder Jesus Bueno has switched jersey numbers from No. 20 to No. 8 for the 2025 season, choosing to wear the number fellow Venezuelan Jose Martinez wore well for five seasons.

A video posted on the team’s Instagram account showed Bueno being his usual jovial self showing off his new No. 8 jersey and El Brujo made a cameo in the comments.

“Make me proud that you made a good decision to grab the 8,” wrote Martinez, who was transferred to Corinthians in Brazil last summer. “Te quiero burda mi niño.”

Bueno becomes the 8th player in team history to wear the No. 8 shirt. Prior to Martinez it was worn by Derrick Jones, Maurice Edu, newly promoted Union II assistant coach Fred da Silva, Matt Kassel, Roger Torres and Andrew Jacobson.
