PIAA District 1 playoff brackets released

The brackets for the PIAA District 1 playoffs are out ahead of the start of the high school post-season on Tuesday.

Ches-Mont champions West Chester Henderson has earned the top seed for boys in Class 4A and Suburban One Colonial Division champs Pennridge for the Class 4A girls. Central League champions Harriton boys and West Chester Rustin girls are the top seeds in Class AAA while Villa Joseph Marie is the top seed in Class 2A girls and Faith Christian is the top seed for 2A boys. Back-to-back Class A girls state champions Dock Mennonite are the top seed in Class A while Calvary Christian boys earned the top seed in Class A boys.

Haverford High School will host the girls (1 p.m.) and boys (3 p.m.) Class 4A district finals on November 1. Upper Merion will host the Class 3A girls (5 p.m.) and boys (7 p.m.) on October 29.

Only the winner of the Class 3A boys final will make the state tournament while both finalists in Class 3A girls will advance. Five boys and five girls teams will make the Class 4A state tournament out of districts. Only one boys and one girls team will make the state tournament in Class A and Class 2A.
