West Chester United’s dominance continued on Sunday with another cup final win over Vereinigung Erzgebirge at Bryn Athyn College to capture the Eastern Pennsylvania Soccer Association state cup double for the fifth straight year.

After finding a winner in second half stoppage time when the two sides met in the EPSA Amateur Cup final two weeks ago, the Predators left little doubt in this one. Ridge Robinson scored the first of his three goals in the 11th minute and his second in the 41st minute made it 3-0 at halftime.

Owen Slack, Carter Gorczyca, Marcus Brenes and Troy Amspacher added goals in the 7-0 victory. Thomas King had a pair of assists and Robinson, Amspacher, Gorczyca and Justin Thomas chipped in assists. Tino Kneis registered the clean sheet in goal for West Chester.

With Sunday’s dominant performance, West Chester United swept both EPSA state cups – the Bill O’Neill Amateur Cup and the Frank Giancroce Open Cup – for the fifth straight year, cementing their historic dominance.

Vereinigung Erzgebirge last won the Open Cup in the 2019-2020 season and Philadelphia Lone Star won the Amateur Cup the same season. Since then it’s been all West Chester United, which turns its attention now to the Region 1 Amateur Cup and league play in the APSL and USLPA.
