Philadelphia Union II return to win column with dominate victory over Carolina Core
Philadelphia Union II picked up their first win since early March with a resounding 4-1 victory over Carolina Core at Subaru Park on Sunday afternoon.
Stas Korzienowski had a brace in his first game back with the second team this season and Malik Jakupovic and Rafael Uzcátegui added goals for Union II.
Tyler Gladstone made his MLS Next Pro and recorded an assist on a corner kick on Uzcátegui’s 63rd minute goal. Defender Andrew Craig also made his Next Pro debut off the bench in the game.
Arnaud Tattevin found the back of the net for the visitors in the 77th minute but the game was already well out of reach by then.
The win was the first for Union II since a 1-0 victory at home over Cincinnati on March 8. They lost to CT United at home on March 15 and had a two-point performance at Red Bull II prior to a two-week break from league play.
Jakupovic’s goal was his third of the season and his 11th in 21 Next Pro appearances. Korzienowski’s brace brought his Next Pro goal total to 10 in 23 appearances.
