Philadelphia Union Academy grad and West Chester United alum Jack Jasinski made his MLS debut in a game where fellow Union Academy alum Jack Skahan had a brace to lead the San Jose Earthquakes to a 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday to highlight the weekend for players with local ties in MLS.
Skahan, who made the MLS Team of the Week, was one of several former players with ties to the Philadelphia Union to find the back of the net over the weekend.
USL Championship
On-loan Union forward Markus Anderson had a goal and two assists and former Union II forward Stefan Stojanovic had a goal of the week nominee in Brooklyn FC’s 3-0 win over Charleston Battery. On-loan Union midfielder CJ Olney also started and recorded an assist for Brooklyn in the match.
Union Academy alum Leo Afonso had a goal for Rhode Island FC in their 3-1 win over Lexington SC. Former Union goalkeeper Oliver Semmle made five saves in the losing effort for Lexington SC. Former Union midfielder Marcus Epps and Reading United alum Aaron Molloy started for Lexington while fellow Reading United alum J.J. Williams started and had an assist for Rhode Island in the match.
Reading United alum Marco Micaletto had a goal for Tampa Bay Rowdies in their 2-2 draw with Oakland Roots. Union Academy grads MD Myers (Delran, N.J.) and Jahmali Waite both started for the Rowdies in the match.
Villanova grad and West Chester United and Reading United alum Lyam Mackinnon had his second goal of the week and the lone goal in Orange County SC’s 1-0 win over FC Tulsa. Penn and West Chester United alum Dane Jacomen made a pair of saves and Union Academy and Reading United alum Kalil ElMedkhar (Middletown, Del.) started for Tulsa in the match.
Union Academy grad Kris Shakes saved a penalty but New Mexico United still lost 3-0 to Phoenix Rising.

Union Academy and Reading United alum Dawson McCartney (Voorhees, N.J.) assisted the lone goal in a 1-0 win for Birmingham Legion over Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
Union II alum Bolu Akinyode had a goal in Loudoun United’s 3-3 draw with Louisville City on Friday night. Former Union forward Chris Donovan (Paoli, Pa.) came off the bench and created two chances for Louisville in a 16-minute shift.
Former Union forward Michee Ngalina started for Hartford Athletic in their 4-0 loss to El Paso Locomotive.
MLS
Former Union goalkeeper Matt Freese (Wayne, Pa.) made 8 saves for NYCFC in their 2-0 loss to Vancouver Whitecaps.
Eric Klein (Manheim, Pa.) came off the bench to make a cameo in the 89th minute for New England Revolution in their 1-0 win over D.C. United.
Daniel Lovitz (Wyndmoor, Pa.) played 90 minutes and recorded an assist on Patrick Yazbek’s game-winning goal for Nashville SC in their 2-1 victory over Charlotte FC.
Former Union defender Jack Elliott played 90 minutes for Chicago Fire in their 1-0 win over Atlanta United. Elliott had recently been out dealing with sepsis so his performance was a welcome sign of his recovery.
Paxten Aaronson (Medford, N.J.) played 90 minutes, Keegan Rosenberry (Ronks, Pa.) played 34 minutes and Zack Steffen (Downingtown, Pa.) played 90 minutes and made six saves for the Colorado Rapids in their 6-2 win over Houston Dynamo.
Former Union midfielder David Vazquez played 17 minutes off the bench for San Diego in their 2-1 loss to Minnesota United.
Former Union midfielder Daniel Gazdag played 7 minutes in Columbus Crew’s 1-1 draw with Orlando City.
