Union Academy defender Rayshaun McGann started and played the full 90 minutes of a 3-1 win over Panama in an international friendly in Panama City on Tuesday.

Ayomide Akinola (Toronto FC II), George Acosta (Weston FC) and Andrew Carleton (Atlanta United) scored the goals for the Yanks, while Victor Griffith scored in the 56th minute for the host side – and was sent off 20 minutes later.

McGann, 16, was also away earlier this month with the U17s for a camp in Bradenton, Florida. He’s made just one substitute appearance for the Philadelphia Union U18s so far this season while away on international duty.

The Florida native came off the bench in the second half of an 8-0 win over Guatemala on September 15 and played all 90 minutes of a 9-0 win over Guatemala on September 17.

McGann and the U17s play Panama again on Saturday to close out the camp. Former Union Academy goalkeeper C.J. dos Santos (Benfica) is also with the team.

Panama will host the 2017 CONCACAF U17 Championship April 21-May 7 with qualification for the 2017 U17 World Cup in India on the line.
