D.C. United 2, Philadelphia Union 1: Instant recap and player ratings survey

The Philadelphia Union are still stuck on two points and zero wins in the 2017 season. D.C. United got the scoring started with a goal from Jose Ortiz in the 18th minute after a poor header from Fabinho in his own end. A questionable hand ball on Richie Marquez lead to a penalty kick that Luciano Acosta converted in the 27th minute. The start of the second half brought on a substitution for the Union as 2017 fourth round draft pick Jack Elliot made his MLS debut, as there was a concussion scare for Marquez. CJ Sapong came in for Jay Simpson in the 59th minute, and brought the Union back within one in the 71st minute. The Union had some good chances immediately after Sapong’s goal, but United Bill Hamid made a number of good stops on many of the Union’s chances. In the end it was not enough to level the score and the Union came away with zero points.
