The Philadelphia Union Academy U18 and U16 teams hosted their counterparts from D.C. United at YSC Sports near King of Prussia on Saturday, and came away with a pair of wins over their MLS academy rivals.

Dawson McCartney, Kalil ElMedkhar and Issa Rayyan scored for the Union U18s in a 3-1 win to avenge a scoreless draw in the nation’s capital way back in the first week of the season on September 3. Taofik Lucas-Walker scored for the visitors.

The Union U16s scored three times in the second half and withstood a late push to win 3-2. Paul Bangura opened the scoring for D.C. in the 31st minute and after three unanswered goals from Brenden Aaronson, Chad Letts and Seth Kuhn, Jonathan Godette made the closing minutes interesting with a 71st minute strike.

D.C. United won the first meeting between the U16 teams on September 3 by the same score line.

The wins helped the Union U16s secure a playoff spot and the U18s to finish first place in the Atlantic Division. Both D.C. United teams missed out on the playoffs.
