Santi Moar places second for USL Rookie of the Year
The Spaniard deservedly finished second in voting
Santi Moar, the former Charlotte Eagle/Pfeiffer Falcon had a chance to really stake his claim in his first pro season with Bethlehem Steel FC. After thirty appearances he managed to snag a finalist spot for rookie of the year, and was announced yesterday as finishing second behind Reno’s Chris Wehan.
Most people wouldn’t expect much out of the 82nd overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft, but the Philadelphia Union have to be impressed with Moar’s numbers. With six assists and six goals – including a lightning fast brace in Toronto – Moar made major waves during the tail end of what would be Steel FC’s most successful season to date. His work on the wing, especially when paired up with Cory Burke and Chris Nanco, often left defenders in the dust and his finishing in close was something to be envied. I’ll drop a few of his highlights from this season below but on behalf of all of us at Brotherly Game, congrats Santi and here’s to an even better 2018!
