Transfer Rumor: Uzbekistan international being eyed by Union and Toronto FC

Dostonbek Khamdamov is the first transfer rumor of the Philadelphia Union offseason

It’s nearly a week after Sergio Santos was signed in 2018 and just a few days before Jose “El Brujo” Martinez was announced in 2019 so it’s right on schedule that the Philadelphia Union would have their first transfer rumor of the close season.

Dostonbek Khamdamov, a 24-year-old attacking midfielder/winger from Pakhtakor Tashkent FK in Uzbekistan is reportedly being targeted by the Philadelphia Union and their Eastern Conference rivals Toronto FC. He has 22 caps for Uzbekistan.

He’s valued at $990,000 and his contract expires at the end of this month, according to Transfermarkt.

From the highlight video below he looks more like a forward than a winger or attacking midfielder but that might just be because the video is mostly just have him scoring goals. If nothing else, it’s nice to have a rumor and also great to hear that the Union could be going after someone Toronto is also targeting even though Toronto does have deeper pockets to get a deal done.
