How to watch: Steffen (Man City) vs Pulisic (Chelsea)

The Citizens dealing with Covid-19 issues have at least five players including starting GK Ederson in isolation

With Man City’s starting Goalkeeper Ederson is set to miss Sunday’s Premier League match against Chelsea. Ederson is missing the match because of isolation due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic. With him missing the match it sets up a rare thing for American soccer fans, two USMNT players lining up on different sides in England. As Man City’s number two goalkeeper is Zack Steffen.

Steffen is now set to make is Premier League debut at Stamford Bridge. Steffen has made four appearances this season, all of them during cup games. The 25 year old will be trying to stop the shots of another Pennsylvania native, Christian Pulisic. The 21 year old has started in 6 matches for the Blues, and only has scored once.

However this season hasn’t been the greatest of starts for the Blues, who find themselves in sixth place with 26 points. Chelsea has lost three of their last five matches to Arsenal, Wolves and Everton. With their last match of 2020 ending in a draw with Aston Villa. So the team who spent over 250 million dollars this past summer, is not looking like the title challenging club that it should be.

For Man City, they currently sit at 8th on the table, also with 26 points but has played two less matches than Chelsea. The issue for City being in 8th on the table, could be because of Covid-19 and how it is affecting the team. Right now between the players and staff there is a reported total of 8 positive cases. Currently the first-team players known to be in isolation for city is Kyle Walker, Gabriel Jesus, Tommy Doyle, and Ederson.
