Preview | Union battle Chicago Fire
The Union’s plan will be to dominate the middle of the park in order to overwhelm the Fire’s holding midfielders and keep bodies close to Shaqiri after turnovers. Chicago’s defense is solid when set, but in transition it gets stretched easily and Philly’s speed up front should have the back line in cautious mode.

The Union go behind the Apple paywall for the first time on Saturday
Former Philadelphia Independence and U.S. women’s national team player Lori Lindsey will be part of Apple’s broadcast team for the Union’s game vs. Chicago.

Former MLS MVP Alejandro Pozuelo joins Turkey’s Konyaspor
Pozuelo, who occupied a Designated Player spot with the club, was out of contract after the 2022 season. Previous stints in Europe include LaLiga, the English Premier League and the Belgian Pro League.

Jonathan Osorio currently occupying Toronto FC’s third Designated Player slot
At the end of the 2022 season, summer arrivals Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi occupied two of TFC’s three DP slots. The expiry of Osorio’s previous contract led to speculation regarding whether or not the 30-year-old’s new deal would see him become the club’s third DP.
