Two first half goals and stingy defense led Rowan to a 2-1 win over Montclair State on Wednesday night in Glassboro, giving the Profs a 10-0-0 record for the first time since 2005.

Cailey Bozinis put the Profs up early with a tap-in off a rebound from a shot by Angela Oliveto in the third minute. Leading goal-scorer Sara Wiedeman doubled the lead from 20 yards after collecting a pass from Bozinis and firing a low liner inside the right post. Riley Fortna started the play with a crunching tackle and steal near midfield to set up Bozinis who megged her defender with a pass to Wiedeman.

Rowan’s dominant start was halted by a penalty whistled in the box in the 24th minute. Kaylee Lauber converted from the spot to make it 2-1 and the Red Hawks threatened to add another in a fixture that has titled red in recent contests between the NJAC rivals.

Enya Carthy made one save but the defense had plenty to do to make the 2-1 score line hold up. The win for Rowan was their first over Montclair State in two years. They lost on penalties in the NJAC Championship last November, played to a 2-2 draw in the regular season and lost in overtime in the NJAC semifinal in 2024 after a regular season win.

Rowan hits the road for their next match at Kean on Saturday afternoon with a chance to set a program record for best season start. The 2005 team lost to TCNJ after their 10-0 start.
