Philadelphia Union II’s two-match unbeaten streak came to an end in a 1-0 defeat on the road to Atlanta United 2 on Sunday.

Karim Tmimi scored the game’s only goal in the 40th minute off an assist from Nick Firmino.

After recording their first points of the season in a five-point swing against Chicago Fire II and TFC II, Union II was able to generate a lot of chances but couldn’t find the back of the net for the first time this season. They outshot the hosts 11-8 (5-3 with shots on goal).

CJ Olney Jr. recorded a pair of shots and key passes and Gino Portella and Stefan Stojanovic both had decent cracks at goal while Jeremy Rafanello nearly scored off a free kick for one of his five shots (two on target) of the day. David Vazquez and Jose Riasco also recorded shots on goal.

Andrew Rick made a pair of saves in his third start of the season. First team players Rafanello, Brandan Craig and Richard Odada all started while Nelson Pierre came off the bench. Anton Sorenson dressed but did not play. Atlanta United 2’s win was their third straight. West Chester native Aiden McFadden started and played 75 minutes in the match.

Union II heads to North Jersey next Sunday night at 7 p.m. to take on NYRB II at MSU Soccer Park.
