Game Thread: Philadelphia Union 2 vs NYCFC 1; Final

90+7′- There is the final whistle. Union enter the Allstar Break with three more points.

90+4′- Blake comes up big again with a huge save at the end of the game to keep the lead. Elliott kicks it out of play for a corner. NYCFC’s corner is caught by Blake.

90+1′- There will be a minimum of 4 minutes of stoppage time here. Meanwhile Jose Martinez is down on the pitch and it looks like it was a knee to knee with Sands.

86′ – NYCFC’s Jasson first shot gets blocked by Mbaizo, but he is able to pick up the rebound and convert the goal. Union up 2-1.

82′- Final sub for NYCFC as Pereira comes on.

81′- The boys in blue make it 2 as Donovan picks up a loose ball after the goalkeeper comes off his line and the ball goes through him. The Philadelphia Union are up 2-nil.

77′- Play is stopped after Mbaizo gets an elbow to the head. The training staff is now on the pitch looking at him.

75′- Double switch for Curtin here as Flach and Donovan come on to replace McGlynn and Sullivan.

63′- Glesnes commits a foul at the top of the box giving NYCFC a good set piece opportunity. However, the free kick is sky high over the net.

57′ – Triple sub here for NYCFC. Sands, Martins and Jasson replace Morales, Haak and Ledezma.

48′- Philly’s corner from the far flag is sent in and cleared out by NYCFC.

46′- Second half is now underway. The Union now attacking towards the River End.

HALFTIME

45+3′- Dangerous set piece here for the Union. Wagner stands over the ball from the right side of the box, the service is sent into the box and easily dealt with by NYCFC. As soon as they tried to take it out of their penalty area the whistle is blown for half.

45′- There is at least 3 minutes of stoppage time before the half.

39′- Play is stopped as Chanot goes down and the training staff is out to look at him. Replay shows Sullivan stepping on the ankle as Chanot went down for a sliding tackle.

35′- The boys in blue corner is headed out of danger by NYCFC.

34′- NYCFC turns it over on their end of the field, Union’s Sullivan sends a rocket on frame that is saved. Leads to a corner for the U.

26′- Play is stopped for a water break. Union also make a change as Bedoya comes off for Bueno. The broadcast cuts to a camera of Bedoya and  Paul Rushing talking on the sideline.

23′- GOOOOAAAALLLL from Martinez, yes the man gets his second goal in less than a month. Here is the setup, the Union go on the counter. Sullivan from the right side sends it to the back post, where a streaking Martinez gets on the end of it to put it in the net.

20′- You can tell Blake is back as he makes yet another save for the U, this time its to stop a header from NYCFC’s Parks. 15′- NYCFC with a set piece here, it gets curled into the area and easily caught by Blake.

7′- NYCFC with a high cross from the right side of the penalty area, but its too high for any player to get on the end of. The chance ends up being a goal kick for the Union.

5′- Great ball from Glesnes to get from the center mark to the top of the box. Union with about 4 attackers in the box but Mbaizo’s cross is handled by NYCFC’s goalkeeper.

1′- We are underway in Chester! The boys are in the dark blues and are defending the River End here in the first half.
