Lower League Round Up: Week of April 1

Welcome back to another season of lower league soccer coverage in Philadelphia and the surrounding area! If you need a refresher for what the lower league round up consists of, check out this intro post from last year for a memory jog. In a nutshell, we keep things pretty simple; a centralized weekly roundup of lower league soccer action from the greater Philadelphia area.  So without further ado, let’s see where things stand in some of the local leagues:

Region 1 Amateur Cup

Three teams from United Soccer League of Pennsylvania entered the first round of the Region 1 Amateur Cup and only one is left standing. Vereinigung Erzgebirge beat Virginia Marauders 3-1 at home on Sunday (Carl Gulbish has a photo gallery from the match) but West Chester United fell 1-0 to Steel Pulse at home and Lancaster City FC had their hands full in Virginia, losing 6-0 to Los Toros.

United Soccer League of Pennsylvania 

USLPA runs on a fall/spring single season with a winter break in between and the spring portion of the season is just getting back underway now. Here are the updated standings for the Men’s Majors division:

Upcoming games for this week are all on Sunday 4/14/24 at 2:30 p.m.
-Vereinigung Erzgebirge vs Phoenix at VE
-Lighthouse SC vs United German Hungarians at Lighthouse
-Ukrainian Nationals vs Lancaster City FC  at Ukrainian American Sports Center

Eastern Premier Soccer League

EPSL are also on a fall/spring single season with a winter break in between and the spring portion of the season is under way as well.

Here are the results from last week:
-Saturday 4/6/24 – Kensington SC 2-3 Vidas Elite
-Sunday 4/7/24 – Philadelphia Heritage SC 9-0 Salone FC
-Sunday 4/7/24 – Oaklyn United 2-0 Philadelphia SC
-Sunday 4/7/24 – Real Central NJ 1-5 Alloy

Upcoming games this week:

-Saturday 4/13/24 – Kensington vs Salone at Northeast HS at 6 p.m.

The remaining games are all on Sunday 4/14/24 at 6 p.m.:

-Philadelphia Heritage vs Inter Vidas at Germantown SuperSite
-Philadelphia SC vs Real Central NJ at Northeast HS
-Oaklyn United vs Vidas Elite at Rowan University
