Palumbo Soccer rebrands as Philadelphia City FC

Published

on

Philadelphia-based youth soccer club Palumbo SC recently announced a rebrand that includes changing the club’s name to Philadelphia City FC.

In a social media post announcing the rebrand, three reasons were given for the change:

1. To better represent where our members come from: the entire city of Philadelphia and many of its vibrant neighborhoods.
2. To differentiate ourselves from Palumbo Recreation Center, and gain more brand recognition.
3. To best position ourselves for the 2026 World Cup which is coming to North America and specifically, our great city. When the world arrives, we want to make sure that we’re representing the local football (soccer) scene as best as we can; as its premier urban youth sports club.

Though the appearance of the club and things like the badge and uniforms will change, the post notes that the make-up and mission of the club will not.

“Otherwise, nothing will change within the club. The club will be offering the same excellent services under the same board of directors and key leadership positions as it does currently. We are so excited for this new and important opportunity to be the premier youth sports club in the greatest sports city. We will see you on the pitch!”
