Flach, Torres, Adeniran and Real among those not returning to the Philadelphia Union in 2025
Leon Flach, Joaquin Torres, Sam Adeniran and Matthew Real lead the list of Philadelphia Union players who either had options declined or are out of contract for 2025.
The Philadelphia Union announced their roster decisions for 2025 on Tuesday via press release.
Flach, Alejandro Bedoya and Adeniran are out of contract but Bedoya is one of three players that are in negotiations for a new deal, according to the release. Brandan Craig and Jack Elliott, who both had options declined, are the two other players in talks to return on a new contract in 2025.
Real, Torres and Jamir Berdecio had options declined, effectively ending their tenure with the team. Real and Torres were both out on loan this season and Berdecio, who was on loan from Club Deportivo Oriente Petrolero, played exclusively with Philadelphia Union II.
Two dozens players are on the roster for 2025 with the potential for 27 if new deals are finalized with Bedoya, Elliott and Craig.
All players under contract through the end of 2024 will still be eligible for the upcoming expansion draft for San Diego FC slated for December 11. The Union will be able to protect 12 non-homegrown players from their 2024 roster.
