Veteran captain Alejandro Bedoya will be back in 2025 for the Philadelphia Union, both in his on-field and front office role.

Bedoya, who turns 38 in April, will play his 10th season with the Union in 2025 and will be back working across multiple departments in the team’s front office as a player development and front office specialist.

“Alejandro’s contributions as a player, leader, and front office specialist proved invaluable last season” Philadelphia Union Sporting Director Ernst Tanner said in a news release. “While he is still an important player on the field, his leadership and insights in his Player Development role are especially beneficial. His experience, combined with his passion and dedication to the Union, makes him an important mentor for our young players, while his business acumen is beneficial to the entire organization. We’re happy to welcome Alejandro back for another season.”

Bedoya is only 12 appearances away from hitting 300 for his Philadelphia Union career in all competitions. He has 29 goals and 30 assists (not counting secondary assists) across that span while logging 22,740 minutes. He made 41 appearances across all competitions in 2024, logging 2,069 minutes.

Bedoya joined the Union from Nantes in 2016, signing as a designated player that August.

He played college soccer at Fairleigh Dickinson and Boston College and earned his bachelor’s degree from the Carrol School of Management at BC. He later graduated from Harvard Business School’s Crossover into Business Program. Along with amassing a real estate portfolio, he has invested in several startups  Padel Haus, PINCHO, ScorePlay, BioPhy, ICNCLST, Teamworks, and Tonsser. He currently serves as Co-Chairman of the Athlete Venture Group at SeventySix Capital and serves on the board of Live Work Philadelphia. As an honorary Co-Chair of Philadelphia Soccer 2026, he was part of the bid committee that helped Philadelphia become a host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
