Josh Jones signs with Louisville City FC

Josh Jones won’t be going far to start his professional career.
The Hatfield, Pa. native and recent University of Louisville grad was announced as a new member of Louisville City FC on Thursday.
“The city of Louisville quickly became home over the past four years, and I can’t think of a better place to start my professional career,” Jones said in a news release. “I’m looking forward to meeting all the fans and helping deliver a championship to Louisville.”
Jones was the USL League Two Defender of the Year last summer after returning to Ocean City Nor’easters and UofL for his senior season. He was selected with the 47th overall pick by Real Salt Lake in the ML SuperDraft. RSL still retains his MLS rights through the end of 2025.
“Going into the 2025 season, we wanted to bring more size and strength to the back line, and Josh certainly gives us that,” Louisville City head coach Danny Cruz said in a news release. “He is a player that we have been following for multiple years now, and we believe that in him we have added another important piece to the roster. I am looking forward to having him with the group and pushing him in his development to be the best version of himself.”
Jones joins West Chester, Pa. native Aiden McFadden in the Louisville City defense.
Prior to going to Louisville for college, Jones won a PIAA state title with North Penn and was a standout basketball player while also playing club soccer with Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals. He returned to the Ukies for their first season in the NPSL over the summer of 2022 and joined Ocean City the following summer.
