WC Predators cap dream inaugural APSL season with league title

West Chester United have gone from fresh face newcomers to league champions in the American Premier Soccer League in the course of 9 months, capping a dream inaugural season in the top amateur league with a 5-1 win over two-time champions NOVA FC at Whitehall High School on Sunday afternoon.
Dylan Lacy opened the scoring with a deflected curling effort 10 minutes in, right back Chas Wilson added a second with a right footed half volley four minutes later and captain Ridge Robinson had a second half hat trick to lead the Predators as he’s done all season to another trophy lift celebration.
Robinson’s second half outburst, which followed a 49th minute red card shown to Jonathan Arguta, capped a weekend that saw the Delaware River Conference regular season and postseason champs score 15 goals in two matches against two other conference champions. They did concede twice over the two days but both were highlight-reel worthy goals and the pattern of a regular season that saw them outscore conference opponents 98-18 carried over into a 21-2 postseason and a 20-1-1 overall record.
Robinson finished the season with 28 goals to lead his team to a first APSL crown not only for West Chester but for the Delaware River Conference. The Predators are the fourth team to win the league title, joining last year’s champion New York Greek Americans, two-time champs NOVA FC and Lansdowne Yonkers FC as champions since the league held its inaugural season in 2020-2021.
With another trophy to add to their expanding case, the busy summer for West Chester continues with NPSL and USL League Two seasons winding to a conclusion and the final four of the USASA National Amateur Cup in late July in Milwaukee.
