Rowan teams in top 10, West Chester women in top 5 of national rankings
Soccer success continues in Glassboro for Rowan University with both teams enjoying perfect starts to the season and movement into the top 10 of United Soccer Coaches’ Division III college rankings.
The Rowan men are off to a 4-0 start and check in at No. 5 in the latest rankings while the women are off to a 3-0 start and a No. 7 ranking in the women’s rankings. Both teams top the regional rankings released on Tuesday.
West Chester University is off to another strong start to the season with a perfect 4-0 start and are fourth in the Division II women’s national rankings and No. 1 in the regional rankings. They’ll be tested this afternoon with a big conference match-up at home against Millersville, ranked fifth in the Atlantic region coming in.
Other teams from the region in the national rankings include Scranton at No. 9 and Messiah at No. 25 in the men’s DIII, Messiah No. 9 and TCNJ No. 14 in the DIII women’s rankings, Kutztown No. 17 in the DII women’s rankings and Rowan College South Jersey – Gloucester ninth in the NJCAA Division III rankings.
LVC men are No. 8 in the DIII regional rankings, Wilmington men are No. 6 in the DII East Region while Millersville is 5 and Bloomsburg 9 in the Atlantic Region men’s rankings. Swarthmore women received votes in the DIII national poll while Misericordia is No. 5, Rutgers-Camden is No. 6, Stockton is No. 7 and Arcadia eighth in the DIII women’s regional rankings.
A surprise absence from the polls is Haverford men, which stretched their unbeaten run to 26 on Tuesday with a dominant 4-0 win over previously unbeaten Delaware Valley. Villanova women have been ranked in TopDrawerSoccer’s top 25 but have yet to crack the United Soccer Coaches rankings.
