Philadelphia Union Week 3 MVP

In a match where literally everything went the Philadelphia Union’s way, you’d think there’d be a lot of competition for Most Valuable Player. This week? Not so much.

CJ Sapong was the unanimous selection for Union Week 3 MVP by the staff here at Brotherly Game. His two-goal performance made him the consensus MVP, with only Warren Creavalle (and Andre Blake’s goal posts) getting so much as a mention from the writers here.

Sapong’s dominance was undeniable. He made it a long day at work for Jose Goncalves and Andrew Farrell, the center back pair tasked with trying to shut him down. He had two goals on three shots, and to add insult to injury his first goal ricocheted off Goncalves past New England goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth.

Perhaps notable by getting no nominations was Andre Blake, who got his first clean sheet of the 2016 campaign. Blake won the Week 1 MVP Award and was a close second for the Week 2 MVP Award.
