Bethlehem Steel FC acquire Cory Burke
The Jamaican International will stay put after 2016 loan
Bethlehem Steel FC announced today that forward Cory Burke will be joining the team full time from Jamaican side Rivoli United, pending some final International Transfer paperwork. Burke had 14 starts for BSFC last year, netting four goals and adding a pair of assists. He struggled to adapt at times, but showed enough for Bethlehem to warrant a permanent move to the Lehigh Valley. He cuts an imposing figure at 6’3 and 170 pounds and should be good for at least one handful, if not double digit goals next year. Recently the Kingston native has been lighting it up for the Jamaica National Team in Gold Cup qualifying, making two appearances including a start with a penalty kick goal against Guyana, as well as a game winner against Suriname that saw the Reggae Boyz lock up qualification for the 2017 CONCACAF tournament.
Hopefully Cory will settle in and continue the impressive run of form that he’s been on for his country. Time will tell but Bethlehem at least has a striker going into 2017.
