Derrick Jones makes MLS Team of the Week bench

You weren’t imaging things – Jones’ debut was that good.

As far as debuts go, it couldn’t have gotten much better for the Philadelphia Union’s Derrick Jones. The 20-year-old midfielder not only got the start and helped the Philadelphia Union draw the Vancouver Whitecaps on the road, but he was named to the Major League Soccer Team of the Week bench for Week 1 as well.

Jones played 90 minutes for the Union, completing 71.7% of his passes and playing both sides of the ball well. 16-year old-phenom Alphonso Davies of the Whitecaps was also named to the Team of the Week bench.
