It’s been a while since a Philadelphia Union player was nominated to the MLS Team of the Week. August 29th of last year to be exact, when Keegan Rosenberry was named in the Week 25 edition. But just like the Union’s winless streak, that all came to an end when both Andre Blake and CJ Sapong were named for their performances against the New York Red Bulls.

Sapong was undoubtedly nominated for his hat trick, which all three goals were scored during a ten minute outburst.

Sapong joins current teammate Roland Alberg and Philadelphia Union legend Sebastien Le Toux as the only Union players who have scored a hat trick.

Blake on the other hand was recognized for keeping a clean sheet against the New York Red Bulls. The shutout was the third of 2017 for Blake and the eleventh of his career. Blake is also up for MLS Save of the Week honors.
