Salesianum rises to No. 2 in national rankings ahead of showdown with No. 1

The Sallies will travel to Newark, N.J. to face top-ranked St. Benedict’s Prep on Saturday

Salesianum School rose two spots to No. 2 in the USA Today/United Soccer Coaches Super 25 poll this week ahead of a Saturday visit to Newark, New Jersey against No. 1 St. Benedict’s Prep.

Salesianum beat Dematha Catholic and St. Augustine Prep to improve to 7-0-0 on the week. Their 4-0 and 2-0 wins extended the Sallies scoreless streak to four games and no team outside of North Carolina (Charlotte Catholic and Christ School each scored a goal) has scored on them yet this season.

Saturday’s game will be played at Riverfront Park at 2 p.m.

Conestoga moved up a spot to No. 9 in the poll after 4-0 and 5-0 wins over Strath Haven and Haverford. Stoga (11-0-1) is one spot behind St. Benedict’s in the Region III rankings. Other area teams in the rankings include Episcopal Academy at No. 9 (10-0-0), La Salle College (11-1-0) at No. 11, Delran (7-1-2) at No. 13, Ephrata (12-0-0) at No. 14 and Holy Ghost Prep (11-1-0) at No. 15. Appoquinimink is sixth and Salesianum No. 1 in the Region IV ranking.

On the girls side, Cumberland Valley entered the rankings at No. 11 after their 13-0-0 start. They check it at No. 2 in the Region III rankings, following by Parkland at No. 5, Eastern at No. 8, Villa Joseph Marie at No. 9, Council Rock South at No. 10, Conestoga Valley at No. 12 and Spring-Ford at 15th.
