All signs point to big announcements in Harrisburg on Wednesday
Cryptic tweets and new websites point to a fresh rebrand
The USL season has been over for less than a day, and already there's multiple big moves being made in preparation for 2018. Atlanta and Memphis are talking about new teams joining the fray as early as next year. Then, and another move that's certain to shake up the USL Eastern Conference, Rochester Rhinos coach Bob Lilley came back to Pennsylvania to become the new head coach of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
Harrisburg City Islanders fans were probably distracted thinking about what this new move means for the Keystone Derby cup. After all, Harrisburg head coach Bill Becher used to be Bob Lilley's teammate back with the Harrisburg Heat. But there's even bigger news coming to Harrisburg in the coming days.
For starters, check out this tweet:
Colorado-based Rush Soccer, which operates youth development clubs some 34,000 players nationwide, has been posting cryptic tweets for the last few days indicating that they would have a new top to their pyramid. This last video makes it clear that Harrisburg is going to factor heavily into that.
In addition, the day before a scheduled press conference in Harrisburg, a website with a possible new name and logo went live at pennfc.com.
That's a pretty big change right there.
So there's a lot of questions being raised. Fortunately, they stand to be answered at Harrisburg's press conference Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Look for a full write up on the info they reveal right here on Brotherly Game.
