Philadelphia Union captain Alejandro Bedoya showed his support for the victims of the recent school shooting in Parkland, Florida on Saturday night when he wore an MSD Strong shirt underneath his jersey.

In a social media message after the game, Bedoya said he wore the shirt to “support families affected by the tragic event.”

Bedoya grew up in Weston, Florida, not too far away from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where a gunman killed 17 people and injured several others in an attack on Valentine’s Day.

Bedoya isn’t the only one in the Union organization with ties to that area. Union Academy and Bethlehem Steel FC goalkeeper Kris Shakes lived in nearby Coral Springs, Florida, before joining the academy in 2016.
