Cesar Arias Becomes The Latest Colombian Player To Be Linked To The Philadelphia Union
Already linked to Colombian striker Jorge Perlaza, the Philadelphia Union are now linked to another Colombian striker.
22-year-old Cesar Arias was rumored to be "tempted" by the prospect of playing in the United States on radio program Caracol Radio. Currently with Cúcuta Deportivo, the Barrancabermeja born Arias had a fantastic 2008 season before tailing off a bit in 2009 and 2010.
In 2008 Arias scored 24 goals but was not called up to the Colombian national team until this month. It's interesting to note that Arias has lost most of his 2008 form.
La Opinion says that the young striker "hopes to take revenge this year and show the scoring touch that he met in 2008."
Arias has played in over 40 games for Deportivo. Prior to playing for Deportivo, Arias played for Asociación Deportiva Belén from 2004-2005. The forward then went to hometown club Alianza Petrolera until the end of the 2008, on a two year loan, in Categoría Primera B.
