According to Teletica, a news outlet in Costa Rica, the Philadelphia Union had a transfer bid for Deportivo Saprissa's young striker Josue Martinez rejected.
"The refusal was given because the club believes that the price does not equal the value of the player," per Teletica's report.
What the price is varies based on context clues, most of which come from Saprissa fans. Word is that the team is seeking a price of close to $2 million in transfer fees for the 21-year-old Martinez, which would most likely price him out of a move to almost any MLS team.
Saprissa also decided to shoot down the move due to a lack of depth at striker within Saprissa's ranks.
"[Saprissa] aims to contribute to their players and maintain a strong team to be protagonists in the local tournament."
However, Martinez has continued to be linked out of Costa Rica, with clubs from Spain and Switzerland apparently on his tail.
