Union Confirm Taylor Twellman As New TV Color Commentator
As first reported by the Brotherly Game on Friday, former New England Revolution striker Taylor Twellman joins JP Dellacamera and Bob Rigby as part of the Philadelphia Union’s television broadcast team in 2011.
The Union listened to the concerns and criticisms of their fans from last season, bringing on new faces for the broadcasts and moving the games to more easily reached channels. While Kyle Martino, the inaugural season's color commentator, was well-liked, the ESPN and Fox Soccer employee had multiple occasions where he was unavailable for Union games due to his job-related conflicts.
Twellman will most likely not have any problems with similar conflicts, as the 31-year-old is both an employee of ESPN and Comcast SportsNet (CSN). CSN is set to air 19 Union games on either it or fellow Comcast channel The Comcast Network (TCN).
Also confirmed as a new member of the team is Rigby, a U.S. and Philadelphia soccer legend, who will be the Union's sideline reporter in 2011.
