Union Win MLS Lottery On Trialist Chris Agorsor

Former University of Virginia forward/midfielder Chris Agorsor was awarded to the Philadelphia Union today in a weighted MLS lottery.

Last week saw former Everton reserve player Cody Arnoux awarded to Real Salt Lake in a similar weighted lottery. Agorsor's lottery included only two teams other than the Union. In addition, the Union head a 96.3 percent chance at securing the rights to Agorsor in the weighted lottery.

The 2008 Gatorade National Player of the Year, Agorsor left Virginia to pursue soccer opportunities. After bouncing around from trial-to-trial, the 21-year-old ended up in the Union's training camp. He most likely was sent to the Union by MLS scouts, which would partially explain why the Union had to go through the lottery, instead of signing him, for his rights.

Agorsor was one of six trial players who were part of the Union's training camp and preseason tour. He played in the Union's first few friendlies of the preseason.
